Luther also applied vocation to the work of the peasant class, to the farmers and servants. To Luther, all work and all the roles that we play were potentially holy callings, which could be fulfilled for the glory of God alone.1 A few generations later, another German Lutheran, Johann Sebastian Bach, illustrated Luther’s teaching perfectly.
